Indoor Marching Concert
This Thursday we will have the Indoor Marching Concert in the main gym. This is a wonderful way to cap off the marching band season and it is one of our most popular concerts of the year. The concert start time will be 7:00pm and we will be hosting a raffle and selling star notes before the concert.

We will be taking a Panorama picture at 5:30pm (which will be available to order), so all band members will need to report to the band room by 5pm. Students will need to be in full uniform (black shoes, black socks, gloves, etc).

Photo: If you are interested in ordering the Indoor Marching Band photo you need to fill out this FORM AND submit payment no later than November 13. Payment information is located on the form. Many people order these for student rooms and/or to display during graduation parties. The price is $15/picture.

State Tournament: The football team is off to the 1st round of the state tournament! This game is still played outside and the temperature looks like a high of 54 degrees on Friday. We will continue to monitor the weather and update you if there are any changes. If the team wins, the second round of state is on Thursday Nov 14 at US Bank Stadium. I will send out more information once we know more. If the team makes it to the State Championship, that would be Friday, Nov 22 (which is during Fall Break).

This would be Friday November 17. I will send out more information once we know more. If the team makes it to the State Championship, that would be Friday, Nov 24.

Pep Band:
With the unfortunate loss on Saturday, volleyball is out of tournament and we are done with pep band until our first winter season game. Here is this year’s pep band schedule.

Jazz Band:
We have our first jazz concert of the year on Thursday, November 14 at 7pm in the auditorium. Student call time is 6pm. Please see the Uniform Info sheet for dress information.

Concert/Symphonic Band:
Starting next week, we will be transitioning over to full time concert band. If you play a different instrument for concert band, please begin brining that instrument to school (ie piccolo/flute, mellophone/horn, etc).

Lessons:
Students need to continue to check the door for the lessons time. If a student is taking lessons with an outside instructor on their band instrument they do not need to sign up for a lesson with me. The student instead needs to complete a lesson form, which can be found on the Resources page of the band website. Piano and guitar lessons do not count for a band lesson, but you can submit them for lettering points.

Speaking of lessons, our low brass and saxophone teachers still have a few spots if you are looking for private lessons during the day. Our trumpet teacher’s schedule is full, but I am working on finding another person to come and teach. If you are interested in private lessons, please let me know.

Winter Guard
One fantastic way to keep students involved in music is through our Lakeville Guard program. This activity adds color and motion to music, and is considered the Sport of the Arts. Our Lakeville Guard program is nationally recognized for excellence, and are 3 time consecutive state champions. There is a program for every age; our LVG Cadets serve grades 1-5, our LVG Regional A team for grades 6-8 and our LVG A team for grades 9-12. All students in Lakeville schools and surrounding areas are welcome to come join and there is no experience necessary for any of these groups.  Please see the attached flyers, fill out the  interest form here to be added to the mailing list, or contact Melissa Nielsen ( melissa.nielsen@isd194.org) for more information.

Band Supplies
I am phasing out ordering band supplies from the School Store and moving to the school store organized by Schmitt Music. The great thing about ordering through the store on the Schmitt website is that they will bring your order to North! The representative stops by every Wednesday. Here is a LINK to the store. If there are any items that you do not see, please let me know and I can have them added.

Honor Bands
If students are interested in playing in an honor band, there are still several this fall. As well as the auditioned honor bands through MBDA and MMEA. The MBDA All State Band (grades 9-10) audition deadline is December 6. The MMEA All State Band (grades 10-11) is due February 25.

Fundraisers
Our next band dinner is at B52’s on Nov 11. For this fundraiser, you will need to have a flier. We will send a copy of the flier out on the booster email list and I will have a stack available in the band room soon.

Cub Bagging is taking place on November 17. Students earn lettering points or NHS hours. The proceeds go to the band instrument replacement fund AND the band trip!

We are still in deeded of the Fundraiser Director position on the booster board. This person is responsible for finding out what the fundraiser coordinators need, help answer questions, and help collect money. If you are interested please let Nikki Porter or myself know.
