Jazz Band Auditions

Auditions for the 2024-2025 LNHS Jazz Band will take place during the spring of 2024. Wind players contact Dr. Wanken about registering. Rhythm section players need to complete an audition.

The audition materials can be found in the resources section of the “2024-2025 LNHS Jazz Band Auditions” Schoology GROUP (Access Code: 234G-B4CK-TFH9G).

If you have any questions, please let Dr. Wanken know.

Audition submissions are due no later than May 31, 2024. Please label your video with your first and last name, upload your file to your school drive account, and share it with matthew.wanken@isd194.org. You can have 2 videos for your submission.

Elementary Tours

The beginning band directors and the fourth grade elementary teachers have again asked members of our band to stop by and play for the elementary students on Friday, May 24. We would be playing pep band tunes outside the buildings. We would be taking a bus in between schools. We are still in the initial planning stages, so more information will be released as it is available. Generally, we leave after 1st period and are gone the rest of the day.

Every year we look forward to playing and getting the elementary kids excited for band!

Graduation

Jazz Band will again be performing before the graduation ceremony. We have the first graduation time this year. Once jazz is done performing, additional band members will take their seats to play Pomp and Circumstance. We will stay for the ceremony to support and cheer on our graduating bandies. Those students that are performing (including all of jazz band) will take a bus to the UofM campus for the ceremony and be bused back to North at the end of the ceremony. Students should wear nice clothes and have something to eat before we leave. There will be a sign up for additional players after the spring concert.

Jazz Band seniors will ride the bus up with us in their gowns. The band will take their instruments back to North and they can pick them up on Friday morning OR make additional arrangements with Dr. Wanken to pick up the student’s instrument at the ceremony or a later date.

Pan O Prog stage

The Pan O Prog committee reached out to let me know that they are looking for small groups to perform on the stage this summer. I am waiting for more information about the performance, but if you are interested in your group performing, please let me know and I will pass along more information as I receive it.

Thank you for all your support! We look forward to seeing you at our many events this month. Please let me know if you have any questions.

Be Bold, Be Brave, Be Kind,
Dr. Wanken
