Hello Band Families!

Items in this month’s update include important information about step up instruments, dome practice for Italy, senior photos, and the Winter Concert!

1. WINTER CONCERT
It is hard to believe that it is December already and our Winter Concert just around the corner (Dec 14)! Doors will open at 6:40 and the concert will begin at 7:00. 9th grade needs to be in the auditorium ready to go at 6:00pm and 10-12th grades will need to be in the band room at 6:20pm. Since this is a formal concert, dress should be nice. Please review the Uniform Guidelines for dress requirements ( Google Docs Document (1-vN…rkI)). Please no short skirts/dress or sleeves. All students will also need to help clear the stage after the concert.

As in years past, we will have a raffle to win our beautiful winter decorations! Proceeds go to help support the band trip.

2. INSTRUMENT STEP UP EVENT
Tomorrow (Friday, Dec 1)
Each year Schmitt Music has an instrument step up event in December. This year they are hosting it at their new Bloomington store (7800 Harmony Dr.) from December 8-10. Schmitt Music is also doing a preview event at LNHS on Dec 1. During band time, our students will have the opportunity to try out new step up instruments. There is no obligation to buy, but it is helpful to experience the benefits of playing on a higher quality instrument. Students are able to progress further in their music abilities with a higher quality instrument.

If you are interested in going to the Schmitt event at their store, make sure to book an appointment: https://www.schmittmusic.com/selection-event/. I also have vouchers for $100 off. Please let me know if you are planning on going to the event and I can send a voucher home with your student. The other music stores (Groth, Music Mart, and Eckroth) also have similar events.

3. DOME TIME
In anticipation for the band trip to Italy, we were able to secure practice time in the dome. We will only have 3 practices before Italy, so students that are going on the trip are required to attend each of the three practices. We will meet in the band room and then go to the dome from there. If there is a conflict with a test or quiz during the school time practices, please let me know asap.

The dates are:
Monday, Dec 4, 3:00-4:15pm (after school)
Monday, Dec 11, 7:00-9:00am (Early Bird & 1st periods)
Monday, Dec18, 12:30-2:30pm (5th & 6th periods

4. SENIOR BANNERS
Remember those fantastic banners from last year’s Seniors? Now it’s your turn!

When: Tuesday, December 12th, 3pm- 5pm
Where: Band Room

Mr. Anselment will be our photographer, a special shout out and THANK YOU!

What to Bring:
– Your band uniform (no hat required)  If you are not marching this fall, please wear concert attire (all black)
– Your instrument or flag if you’re in the guard
– Anything you want to prep for pictures (like a comb 🙂
– Your best smile!!

If you have another afterschool activity we will make sure you get to the front of the line.
