Happy New Year! It is great to be back making music in the new year. Besides several pep band games, the winter is a much slower time for the band. Speaking of pep band, the pep band performance that was scheduled for Tuesday, January 10 has been canceled and will be rescheduled.

Even though the month is slower, here are a couple events to note:

1. Italy trip information meeting: We will be having our first informational meeting about the Italy trip on Tuesday, January 24 at 6:30pm in the band room. The meeting will cover the itinerary, travel questions, cost, payment plans, etc. Since this is only an informational meeting, I recommend anyone who is thinking about the trip or have questions to please plan on attending. Also, if you know of any 8th graders who are coming to North next year, please pass along this information. I will also send meeting details to the middle schools.

2. Jazz Band Cabaret: Our second annual Jazz Cabaret concert with members of the LNHS choirs will be held Friday, January 27 at 7pm in the LNHS Auditorium. Come out and hear some great jazz standards as well as some more contemporary numbers. It’ll be a swingin’ good time!

3. For those that were unable to attend the winter concert, the live stream is archived on the district’s website: isd194letv.viebit.com/player.php?hash=ZoMKAIKGKM4E . Unfortunately, because of some technical difficulties, the audio was not recorded for the jazz portion of the concert.
