Director’s Update
September 2024
Band Families,
It is the first week of school! Even though we have already been going with band activities for the past month, there is something special about the energy of this week. We will be all be playing everyday this week, so students need to bring in their instruments. This director’s update will be part review and part new information. I’ll use numbers and bold text to help distinguish the different points.
1. Football game v. Rosemount on Friday. Let’s hope for better weather this time! The schedule is:
Practice – 5:00pm
Uniforms/Snack – 6:00pm
Marching Down from music doors – 6:42
Pregame – 6:51
Halftime – approx 8:00-8:15
Marching back up – approx 9:30
(Half time and end times are approximate)
Uniform items to bring: black shoes, black crew socks, compression shirt, gloves. The rest of the uniform will be at school.
Music: Hey Baby, Star Spangled Banner, Rosemount fight song, Panther Fight Song, Panther Pack, Sweet Caroline (2nd Quarter), You Should Be Dancing, Careless Whisper, Get Lucky
2. Stadium Clean Up – Saturday 8:30am-10am
With a large number of bandies attending the UofM Band Day, if you are not going, please try and be available to help with clean up this week. A reminder that everyone in marching band has to help with at least 1 stadium clean up. Extra clean ups are for lettering points or NHS hours. A sign up will be posted in the BAND app.
3. Flip folio
With the new cell phone policy, please make sure that students have their music in their flip folios. They will not be able to use their phones in class. They will be able to use their iPads, but I would prefer that everyone has their music in the flip folios.
4. Band Handbook
The Band Handbook is posted in Schoology. Please review it. On the last page there is a link to the acknowledgment form. All families must complete this by next Monday.
5. Instrument rental
The link to the instrument rental form is also found on the last page of the band handbook. We’ll be officially checking out instruments this week and those forms must to turned and paid by Friday.
6. UofM Band Day logistics
Please remember to pay via the parent portal under field trips! Below is a review of the information.
One of our favorite days of the fall is the UofM Band Day! This year it is on Saturday, September 7.
Students will need their full band uniform during this time.
Then they need to submit payment ($25) on CampusPay, please do so ASAP. (InfiniteCampus under “Field Trips”). Please do not send payment through the boosters. It needs to go through the school.
Students will need to print out their music and put it in their flip folio before Saturday, Sept 7. MUSIC LINK
