2017-2017 Trip Itinerary

Weather

While we are going to Florida, it is still December/January which means temps in the 50s-60s. Please make sure your student packs weather appropriate clothing.

Packing

  • Students are allowed 1 suitcase that will be stored under the bus. They will NOT be allowed to access this until they arrive in Orlando.
  • Students are allowed 1 smalled bag (like a backpack) on the bus with them along with a blanket and pillow. VERY IMPORTANT: Please have any snacks, medications and toothbrush, deoderant, in their backpack.
  • The bus trip is long, but there are DVD players on the buses, students are allowed to bring movies rated PG-13 and under to share.
  • UNIFORMS

Parents/Students need to bring entire uniform for packing on Friday, December 22, 2017. Drop off times are: 7:15-8am or 2-4pm in the band room. (IMPORTANT: while it's just fine for parents to drop off their student's uniform during the day, the student still must show up after school to pack their uniform in their assigned rank box.)

overlay, jacket, pants, hat, spats, gloves, suspenders/belt (BLACK t-shirt and BLACK CREW-LENGTH socks in personal luggage)

If the student is missing ANY of the necessary items the box cannot be sealed or loaded on the truck. Someone needs to get the missing hat, uniform piece, etc before we can finish and load the uniform box.

    What's needed:

  • Jacket, Pants, Overlay MUST EACH be on a wire hanger, hang pants with crease like dress pants
  • PLEASE check your students pant hems - they should NOT be hemmed with safety pins. Please stitch the hem in before the trip. Hemming guidelines can be found here: Pant hemming rules
  • Check and make sure the jacket sleeve hems are intact.
  • Gloves and Spats should be washed (yes they can be machine washed and dried - on low heat) and bleached/deep cleaned as necessary. Uniform care details
  • Hats: It was suggested to clean the hats - especially the strap, it's safe to use a magic eraser on both the white part of hat and strap.
  • Dont forget suspenders or belts.
  • To be packed in STUDENTS luggage: black t-shirt to wear under jacket for marching. Black socks - these should be tall black socks and are supposed to be above the level of your spats.
  • Shoes: Check them and make sure they are polished and look good for the trip. Please label your students shoeson the bottom between the sole and the heel with their name on a piece of masking tape. This will ensure they can find their shoes.
  • Uniform packing - The details

All items can be packed in uniform boxes.

  • Uniform in garment bag provided
  • Spats, Gloves, suspenders in plastic bag provided, hung on uniform
  • Shoes and Hats in bottom of box
  • They will bring all of these things to appropriate Rank packing box. Parents will double check that all necessary items are there and supervise the student packing them in the garment bag and box.

If the student is missing ANY of the necessary items the box cannot be sealed or loaded on the truck. Someone needs to get the missing hat, uniform piece, etc before we can finish and load the uniform box.

When the boxes return from the trip, volunteers will be unpacking to sort uniforms for cleaning and storing. Any personal items found in the boxes at that time (shoes, socks, shirts, suspenders, etc.) will be labeled as best we can and placed on tables in the band room for the student to retrieve.
